Appraising Staff Effectively

This course highlights the key elements of effective appraisals and assists managers in developing their approach to the integration of individual annual plans with ongoing supervision and support.

Learning Outcomes


By the end of the course participants will be able to demonstrate:

  • Knowledge of their own organisations' appraisal policy and procedures and how they link to business planning and ongoing staff management
  • Skills in carrying out effective appraisals, including setting objectives, planning development activities, and giving and receiving feedback
  • Ability to conduct annual appraisals in such a way as to re-assure and motivate staff
