Health and Safety Policy

Values:

It is a core value of Skills and Projects that all Associates and delegates to events should work in a safe and healthy environment. Skills and Projects extends this to supporting and promoting safe and healthy work practices.

Skills and Projects values include promoting a balance between work and other aspects of life: supporting the development and growth of the whole person.

Aim:

The aim of this policy is to identify areas of risk to the health and well-being of Associates and Stakeholders and signal approaches that will mitigate those risks.

Delivery:

Each Associate accepts a personal responsibility for their own and others’ health and safety. They give a commitment to raise concerns and suggestions directly where appropriate.

There will be formal and conscious assessment of health and safety risks as an integral project appraisal for each new project: including the impact on other aspects of life created by increased workload.

Associated Actions:

To support these values and aims the organisation will:

  • Formally review health, safety and well-being as part of its quality systems. This will include regular assessment of the working environment of employees working from home.
  • Integrate advice of bodies like “The Suzy Lamplugh Trust” into its practices – for example in meeting new stakeholders in safer situations.
  • Choose venues and projects that support safe working practices and the well-being of delegates and associates: both immediate and addressing long-term health aspects reflected in protecting the wider environment.
  • When attending venues of clients or for training Associates will actively seek a full health and safety briefing. When working in unfamiliar settings they will seek a full risk assessment including risks associated with travel to the setting, risks at the setting and the surrounding area and finally the management of any risks that may arise from work with participants.
  • When working alone away from familiar settings, it will be the practice of associates to let another associate know details of where they are, times when they expect to return to home or office and to confirm that they have safely returned.

.

This policy will be reviewed annually or at any time that Skills & Projects business activities or operations change significantly.

Next scheduled Review Date: December 2010.
