Any performance review of a governing body must begin with an alignment and gap analysis of existing definitions, structures and processes. Without this, any initiative to enhance the performance of your Board will at best be piece meal and at worst may make little or no difference.
This module enables you to design and/or review the principles, values and attitudes underpinning the work of your governing body.
This module enables you to design and/or review role descriptions for individual Board members that set out roles and responsibilities.
This module enables you to define and/or review the competencies required of individual Board members.
This module enables you to design and/or review the knowledge and skills required of individual Board members.
This module enables individual Board members to assess their strengths and weaknesses in contributing to the work of the Board as a whole. It is based around a questionnaire based on our set of high-level core competencies and our second-level confidence measures. In completing the self-assessment questionnaire, you and your Board members will receive individual and group feedback reports.
Module 6 is designed to inform and facilitate personal development and appraisal, action planning for training and development, and your Board member recruitment, retention and renewal strategy.
This module can by use in combination with Module 6 or as a stand alone module by those Boards not adopting a competency framework.
Module 7 is also designed to inform and facilitate personal development and appraisal, action planning for training and development, and your Board member recruitment, retention and renewal strategy. As with other modules, it can be run on-line or in hardcopy, and the questionnaire can be self-completed or completed through interview with an appropriate person.
This module enables you to design and/or review your approach to the development and appraisal of individual Board members. It does so by facilitating a part-on-line, part face to face annual discussion between individual Board members and the Chair (or other appropriate person) informed by your competency and knowledge/skills requirements and assessments.
